Records, 1803-1838, 1867-1949.

Records include minutes, finance reports, a casebook, scrapbooks, and correspondence. Minutes include: the first constitution, resolutions, meeting summaries, number of people aided, type of aid rendered, and committee and auxiliary group reports. Also, a casebook, 1895-1920, with names and addresses of those aided and descriptions of their poverty. Records also include: a scrapbook on the Society's 100th anniversary in 1903; the M.S. Clark Memorial Fund's board minutes, 1876-1949; reports on the Fresh Air Fund, 1882-1904; and American Red Cross workroom records, 1933-1934. The records of the Crazy Jane Society, 1875-1916, and the Mother's Meetings Committee, 1886-1914, include meeting summaries, names and addresses of members, donations, the type of clothing or linens made, their quantity and distribution, and the cost of materials.

The Newark Female Charitable Society (Essex County, N.J.) and its auxiliary groups: the Crazy Jane Society, the Mother's Meetings Committee, and the Fresh Air Fund. The Society was founded in 1803 by a group of 117 women, under the leadership of Mrs. Elisha Boudinot.
